This week Socitm Advisory colleagues have been showcasing careers in business consulting, participating in the digitalUPLIFT programme hosted in conjunction with Truro College, Penwith College and TEC Women.

The skills development programme, digitalUPLIFT, has been designed specifically for women, to showcase the opportunities within Cornwall’s technology sector and support women into technology or digital jobs and training.

At the event, attended by the very first cohort of women graduating from the 8 week programme, looking to get into tech roles (including career changers, students, graduates and those returning to work), colleagues from Socitm Advisory discussed their careers in ‘tech’, to help delegates to explore career-switching opportunities and training needs in a safe and supportive setting. They also showcased Socitm Advisory as an employer, along with a dozen other tech businesses talking to delegates about the types of job roles their businesses offer, helping them to discover what’s available and form new connections.

“My colleague Kat and I, are delighted to have attended this first event hosted by TEC Women, to support women in Cornwall to connect with local employers and discover the opportunities available across the technology and digital sectors. Like many employers, Socitm Advisory is a remote organisation, which means we attract colleagues to join us from across the UK, including Cornwall. There has never been a more exciting time to join the technology sector and I am delighted that so many women attended to find out more and to discuss the challenges facing women in the tech sector.”
