Giving back
We’re excited to have hosted part one of our Socitm Digital Youth Conference pilot on 6th July with students from East Norfolk College.
At Socitm Advisory we are committed to giving back to the community and we are always looking at creative ways to inspire and support young people, especially those who may be considered to be disadvantaged by background or by area. The aim of the Digital Youth Conference is to provide students with the opportunity to learn from and engage with professionals whilst thinking about their own development and the first steps of their career.
Tony Summers, CEO of Socitm Advisory comments on the Conference, “Social purpose is at the heart of what we do at Socitm Advisory, and the Youth Conference is just one way that our colleagues can make a difference to the communities in which we operate by supporting young people as they begin their careers. We look forward to our continuing partnership with East Norfolk College.”
Virtual conference
The first part of the conference was delivered remotely to a class of over 20 students, including both A-level and T-level students. A team of Socitm Advisory and Socitm colleagues volunteered their time to deliver workshops on recruitment, Belbin’s Get Set profiling, and digital awareness. The team was also joined by Jessica Roberts, an Internal Communications and Employee Experience expert who delivered a fantastic workshop on being your best self.
Next steps
Following the delivery of the Youth Conference, we are continuing to work with the College to design and tailor part two of the project, which will involve students working in groups to design digital platform to support young adults in the early stages of their career.
Simon Fox, Deputy Principal at East Norfolk Sixth Form College said about the partnership working;
“Working with key growth sectors is critical for us as an organisation, and the opportunity to work with Socitm on their pilot Digital Youth Conference not only met that objective, but also provided the chance for students to develop key professional skills and behaviours for the 4th Industrial Revolution.
The students loved the interactive and wide-ranging nature of the sessions, were inspired by the presenters’ passion and enthusiasm and left feeling more confident and empowered to embrace the digital world they are transitioning into. We can’t wait to continue the project and see what exciting pitches the students come up with.
Huge thanks to the team, and Sophie in her leadership of the project, it was well organised, responsive and a brilliant experience all round.”
